The realities of foreign ownership.

Currently, over 1.5 million Americans now own homes in Mexico. Mexico offers foreign investors an attractive opportunity in an environment undergoing dramatic improvement and growth. With the advent of NAFTA, the Mexican government recognized the value of foreign real estate investment and the need for new legislation allowing for a more convenient method of property ownership. As the Mexican Constitution prohibits foreign ownership of real estate within 62 miles of land borders and 31 miles of the coastline, the government created an alternative method of holding ownership title in 1989 using a Property Trust that allows foreign buyers all the rights and privileges of ownership.
