Rich in history, hospitality and beauty.

Founded in 1697 as a Spanish mission by Jesuit Priest Juan Maria de Salvatierra, Loreto has a legendary history as the original capital of the Californias. Today, home to some 14,000 local residents, Loreto is celebrated as an enchanting seaside haven with friendly townspeople, old-world architecture and an enriching culture. Walk along the Malecon to the marina and stop at any one of a number of fine restaurants, bars and artisan shops. Or, stroll over to the Historical District, lined by sculpted laurel trees and enjoy the friendliness of townsfolk passing by, nodding and smiling. Welcome home!

“The nearly undiscovered natural playground of Loreto will surely bring rejuvenation.”
